Insurance & Onboarding
We are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health Care, and MedCost insurance plans.
Onboarding Process
-
Either by phone or video call (your choice!), we will talk about your largest goals and struggles. This is a great time to ask any questions you might have about the process and Expedition Nutrition & Recovery’s approach to nutrition counseling to assess if it would be a good fit.
-
After you fill out the Insurance Benefits & Billing Authorization form and send photos of your health insurance card, we complete a complimentary verification of insurance benefits call to save you the trouble and to make sure that you receive maximum coverage within your respective plan’s policy. We are not held responsible for charges that your health insurance may bill and any costs not covered by insurance would be the client's responsibility.
*If you don’t have or want to use health insurance, we offer private pay rates, plus sliding scale options for qualifying clients. We also accept FSA and HSA payments. Please schedule a free consultation for more information on private pay rates and options.
-
We will follow-up with you via email to notify you of your insurance plan’s verified coverage for nutrition counseling sessions. This email will also coordinate scheduling your intake and follow-up sessions. Once your sessions are scheduled, the onboarding forms will be sent.

60-120 minutes
This is your first official appointment - we will talk through your health history, dietary habits, lifestyle, and relationship with food, body, and movement. We value actually getting to know our clients and hearing your stories. This initial appointment will help to lay out the puzzle pieces of your story so that we can see the whole picture to establish goals and a unique nutrition care plan that works for you.

50-60 minutes
Each follow-up session provides ongoing support to help you build sustainable habits, process challenges, celebrate wins, review eating behaviors / patterns and progress toward goals, and adjust or add to goals as needed. Most follow-up sessions include nutrition counseling / medical nutrition therapy to help foster behavior change, nutrition education, collaborative meal and grocery list brainstorming / planning, and constant assessment of nutritional needs. Sessions are free-flowing and tailored to what you bring to each appointment, while remaining grounded in evidence-based nutrition science and intuitive eating principles.
Because quality nutrition care should be as accessible as possible.
